Gallbladder Diseases

The gallbladder is an organ that stores and secretes bile fluid produced by the liver. Gallbladder diseases occur as a result of impaired gallbladder functions or obstruction in the biliary tract.
The most common gallbladder diseases are:
Gallstones: Gallstones are small stones formed from crystallized bile fluid in the gallbladder. These stones can cause obstruction and inflammation in the gallbladder or biliary tract.
Acute cholecystitis: Inflammation of the gallbladder wall. It most often occurs due to gallstones.
Chronic cholecystitis: It occurs as a result of long-term inflammation of the gallbladder wall.
Bile duct obstruction: Bile duct obstruction can occur due to gallstones, tumors, infections, or biliary strictures.
Symptoms of gallbladder diseases include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, bloating, tenderness in the gallbladder area, jaundice, and fever.
Treatment of gallbladder diseases depends on the type and severity of the disease. Gallstones are usually removed surgically. Urgent surgical intervention may be required in cases such as acute cholecystitis and biliary tract obstruction. Dietary changes and drug therapy can be used in chronic cholecystitis.
Gallbladder Diseases Treatment Methods
Treatment of gallbladder diseases may vary depending on the type and severity of the disease. The most common gallbladder diseases are gallstones, acute cholecystitis, chronic cholecystitis and biliary tract obstruction. Treatment methods may include:
Gallstones: Gallstones are usually removed by surgery. During surgery, the gallbladder may also be removed.
Acute cholecystitis: Acute cholecystitis is treated with antibiotic therapy and usually gallbladder surgery.
Chronic cholecystitis: In chronic cholecystitis, dietary changes, pain relievers and medications such as bile acid sequestrants can be used. However, chronic cholecystitis is usually treated with gallbladder surgery.
Bile duct obstruction: Bile duct obstruction can occur due to gallstones, tumors, infections, or biliary strictures. Treatment depends on the cause of the obstruction and may require surgical intervention.
Treatment of gallbladder diseases may vary depending on the type and severity of the disease. Therefore, it is necessary to make a customized treatment plan for each patient. It is recommended that patients evaluate treatment options, make a treatment plan and implement them together with their doctors.
