What is thyroid? What are the symptoms of thyroid?

The thyroid is a small gland located in the neck region that produces hormones that are important for many body functions such as metabolism, growth, development and energy regulation. Thyroid hormones play an important role in the functioning of the whole body.

The normal functioning of the thyroid gland affects many functions of the body. Excessive or underproduction of hormones in the thyroid gland can lead to many symptoms. In the case of hyperthyroidism, where the thyroid gland produces excess hormones, some symptoms include:

excessive sweating
Palpitation
thin skin
Insomnia
irritability and restlessness
increased appetite
rapid weight loss
muscle weakness
swelling in the eyes

In the case of hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland produces too little hormone, some of the symptoms are:

Fatigue and weakness
Depression and mood changes
sensitivity to cold
weight gain
dry skin
Hair loss
Constipation
difficulty concentrating
